A custom intake manifold was always something we wanted to do for this project. We initially started with the plan of a sheet metal intake but never really went anywhere with the idea. Fast forward 5 years and Matt reached out to Kiwi CNC in NZ about adapting their SR20 Dual Plenum Intake manifold to KA24E. After a couple emails back and forth with Dan from Kiwi CNC we were able to work out a deal to have new runners made that would allow us to bolt the intake on our KA24E.

Dan made quick work of the design and 3D printed some test runners. Once those pieces shipped I knew I needed to kick the project into gear and install a mock up engine. Right as UPS was dropping off the package we were bolting down the engine mounts on the mock up engine. We immediately tossed the intake on for a test fit.

 

It was pretty apparent off the bat that we had tons of room to extend the runner length and move the plenum further out. Especially if we ever planned to try to run the OEM KA24E power steering pump. Dan quickly tweaked the design and sent over a file that we 3D printed here for a 2nd test fit. He had added 40mm to the runners and it made a huge difference. Now to wait on the aluminum pieces to come from NZ!
